Old MacBook Pro FFmpeg Issues

I’ve installed Audacity 2.1.1 on my MacBook 10.5.8 (Intel Core 2 Duo)… long story, but am having difficulty installing FFmpeg utils 54.64 dylib. I downloaded and installed it, Audacity can “see” the file from preferences, but I am unable to select/use it.

It has been so long since I’ve used this Mac and Audacity, I know I’ve messed up somewhere, but cannot figure it out. Help?

If Audacity lets you see the file in the preferences but doesn’t allow you to select it, the file is probably not compatible with that version of Audacity. Consulting the FFmpeg download page, I see that the version compatible with Audacity 2.1.1 is the one that you can download from the links with these names:

ffmpeg-mac-2.2.2.zip
DMG - ffmpeg-mac-2.2.2.dmg

I hope they work.

Thanks for the reply… but yeah, I tried both of those, no luck. It “sees” them and I can select them. But when I click ‘OK’ the dialogue box still says it cannot be located and clicking on the locate and/or download options only start the whole thing over again.

Hi, the .dmg package for audacity > 3.2.0 was not working. We confirmed with a few users. I have updated the site, please use the link RECOMMENDED download: ffmpeg_64bit_osx.pkg

Wow. Thanks! So unusual for a site’s team to be so responsive AND actually help. Cheers!

Try Audacity 3.2.2 with https://lame.buanzo.org/ffmpeg.php if you keep having problems
