Error opening sound device

hello, can anyone point me in the direction of an error information? I have been going round in circles. all the vids on you tube explaining how to solve this problem seem to be on windows pc and I use iMac
error opening sound device, try changing the host, playback device and project sample rate
I run imac on Monterey my audacity is 3.1.3

I suggest you try Audacity 3.2.0, many people posted about problems with Monterey and 3.1

Also, I am uploading ffmpeg binaries compatible with Audacity 3.2.0 now.
